Q. How do I sign up?
A. Call us at (212)365-0132! After conducting a brief telephone consultation to make sure BDB Fit Camp is the right choice for you, we will schedule your fitness assessment and Fundamentals Orientation. While not mandatory at the moment, attending Fundamentals Orientation is a highly recommended prerequisite to joining our group sessions.
Q. What is the Fundamentals Orientation?
A. Fundamentals Orientation consists of THREE 1 on 1 personal training sessions. These sessions are designed to take you through the basics of our core exercises and prepare you for moving into group sessions with a firm grasp of the movements and intelligent substitutions for exercises that suit your specific needs. All three Fundamentals sessions must be completed within a 7 day period.
Q. What do I need to bring to our sessions?
A. A kettlebell, a pair of workout gloves, a bottle of water, an exercise mat, and a small towel. Also, be sure to bring 100% of your effort and a positive attitude!
Q. What the hell is a kettlebell?
A. If you have no idea what a kettlebell is, that is precisely why you need us. Kettlebells are amazing tools. Kettlebells are easily portable, take up very little space, and can be used to tone and strengthen virtually every major muscle group in your body. Select a weight from 20lbs to 45lbs according to your current fitness level. Ideally, for our purposes, your kettlebell should be approximately 15 to 20% of your bodyweight.
Q. How soon will I see results?
A. That is completely up to you! It all depends on how serious you are and how hard you are willing to work. You are going to get out of this just as much as you put into it!
Q. I haven't exercised in 3 years, do I have to be in shape to join?
A. No, not at all! Our program accomodates both seasoned athletes and first timers alike. You are encouraged to work at your own pace, we simply ask that you do your very best at all times. The workout of the day (WOD) is the same for everyone, however the intensity and type of exercise is adapted to each individual’s current fitness level. We believe the needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree, not kind.
Q. What is a typical session like?
A. Each session contains the following 5 components: 10 minute warm-up, 15 minute skill practice, 5 minute WOD briefing, WOD, 10 minute stretch. Check out the daily posted WOD for the specifics.
Q. If the workouts are posted for free, why can’t I just do this on my own?
A. You can. However, the likelihood of you getting the same results is slim to none. Our coaches and instructors not only help you develop proper form and technique, we also help you to find your appropriate level of intensity and suitable exercise substutions. Furthermore, the camaraderie and support found in our program is something you won’t find at home training alone or anywhere else for that matter. And if you don't think camraderie and support matter, you are dead wrong.
Q. Why is every workout done “for time”?
A. Statistics don't lie. Our goal is to make you a more efficient machine capable of doing more work in less time. The only way to accurately measure progress is to track statistics. How much weight you moved, how many times, over what distance, in what time frame are all key factors which indicate improved phyiscal capabilites. If you complete the very same workout 3 minutes faster than you did last time, then guess what... you are clearly in better shape than you used to be. Recording statistics proves on paper that you are getting fitter.
Q. Do you do private sessions?
A. Absolutely. Email us at bdbfitcamp@gmail.com to set something up.
Q. Is there a diet program included?
A. During the Fundamentals Orientation you will receive a handout which includes a detailed list of approved food items and highlights the do's and don'ts of proper eating. For more comprehensive assistance, you can contact us for references to qualified registered dieticians.
Q. Do I get a free trial before joining?
A. There are no "free trial periods" or unsolicited drop-ins. Everything you need to know about us is right here in front of you. If you would like to come learn more about what we do, call us or send us an email and make an appointment to go through your introductory session. Please do not contact us if you are not ready. We are not salesmen equipped with insincere, automated sales scripts nor do we have the desire to "convince" you to join us. We dedicate our time to helping those who truly want to be helped. We have opened the door for you, but it's your choice whether or not you want to walk through it.
